2016 NEW: NMA: PEOPLE: HG: If I bring new people into Cookie II, how do I get them to my place?

If I bring new people into Cookie II,
how do I get them to my place?
Community entry plans could lead a few communities to take responsibility for managing an entry path for newcomers in cooperation with other communities.  If newcomers arrive at a single location, it is easier to have welcomers onsite but the site needs to provide easy access to the other community sites.  Here I provide suggestions as to how to do that.

Bring them in

Get them to your place

  • Give people the address of your welcome center on your website.
  • Give both the Firestorm Hop and the web address.
  • Firestorm Hop:  hop://grid.kitely.com:8002/Cookie II/125/129/25
  • Web address: grid.kitely.com:8002:Cookie II
  • Put a welcome kiosk where you expect new people to arrive.
  • Welcome kiosk for community collaboration 0.4
  • You may not be able to put a walkin TP there.
  • To work, a walkin TP may need to be placed by someone with land authority there.
  • OSSL adds functions to LSL: threat levels control misuse
  • Put your the landmark to your welcome center in the kiosk box
  • Give landmarks in the welcome folder.
  • Give people a reason to come to your place: Free community-related things:
  • avatars, clothes, landmarks, calendar, events, contacts, groups, sandbox.
  • Tell them how to join your community group and send IMs to the community.
